Rotor-Lift IFR Flight Training
Rotor-Lift is Australian’s most experienced IFR Flight Training School and offers Senior IFR Instructors who have a depth of experience.
Rotor-Lift Instructors are highly experienced in operations such as Search and Rescue, Medevacs, and regularly undergo extensive IFR training as part of their role with the Tasmanian Air Rescue Helicopter. They maintain skills both as line pilots and instructors which ensures their operational knowledge and instructional skills maintained to an excellent standard. Rotor-Lift’s aim is to transfer our instructors skills and knowledge to their Pilot Trainees.
Tasmania’s unforgiving terrain and weather provides for one of the best environments to attain an Instrument Rating. Unlike any other location in Australia Hobart has all the required navigation aids and approaches, which increases the number of approaches a Pilot Trainee can complete in the allotted training regime and allowing for flight in actual IMC conditions.
Rotor-Lift Utilizes both the BK-117 and the AS-355 Twin Squirrel helicopters to give trainees the highest level of multi engine instrument training preparing them thoroughly for a command position in the helicopter industry. The approaches available at Hobart are, NDB, VOR, ILS, DME/GPS and RNAV. There are also numerous other nav aids throughout Tasmania that can be utilised including an ILS at Launceston and an RNAV approach in the mountains at Strathgordon.
We understand people are individuals and have varying training requirements. Each Pilot Trainee’s progress is re-evaluated throughout the syllabus of training in order to achieve the goal of becoming a competent multi engine command IFR pilot.
Our flight training services have been provided to many people and organizations including CASA, Sunshine Coast Heli Rescue Service, Helicopters (Australia), Australian Defence Force Personnel, Westpac Rescue South Australia and NSW Police Air Wing.
